A Career of Distinction

Dr. Nizar Souayah is a triple board-certified neurologist with over 25 years of experience in clinical, academic, and medicolegal settings. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine, as well as by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He currently serves as Professor of Neurology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and is the President and Founding Director of the Premier Clinical and Research Neuromuscular Institute (PCRNI).

Awards & Recognition

For his distinguished contributions to the field, Dr. Souayah has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), the American Neurological Association (FANA), and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (FAANEM). His honors also include repeated listings in America’s Top Physicians and teaching awards from neurology residents.

Leadership & Mentorship

A proven leader, Dr. Souayah has established multiple specialized Centers of Excellence, including the Rutgers COVID-19 Neurology Center, the Guillain-Barré Syndrome / CIDP Center, and the MDA Care Center. He has mentored dozens of trainees who have advanced into leadership roles across the country.

Personal Interests

Outside of medicine, Dr. Souayah enjoys world travel, reading history, and following international soccer and tennis. He is also deeply engaged in mentorship and community health education initiatives.
